Heritage Interpretation - Planning

Interpretive plans ensure your provision is logical in its approach and effective in its presentation. Plans ensure integration and co-ordination of resources, methods and messages. They are ideal for securing funding; two of our recent plans attracted over £200,000 each.

Project example

Nose’s Point Interpretation plan

Nose's Point is the northern gateway to the prestigious Durham Heritage Coast. A key aim of the plan was to provide fully inclusive interpretation, accessible to all visitors both intellectually and physically.

Intensive consultation with the community and all other stakeholders, with regular verification of findings with the consultees, produced a highly visual and tactile approach. The varied elements combine to create an entertaining and informative visitor experience, integrating well into both the local and regional context of the site.

The plan formed the basis for substantial funding bids both for interpretation and access improvements. On the strength of the plan, funding bids were successful and the site is set to become a major asset to the local communities of east Durham and
a major tourism venue in its own right in the northeast of England.
